Giffords Circus at Barrington – A Dreamlike Summer Escape

Each summer, the peaceful Cotswold village of Barrington, near Burford, stirs to life as the Giffords Circus wagons roll in and gather in a farmer’s field between Little and Great Barrington, just across the lane from The Fox pub. Among honey-stone cottages and sweeping valley views, a vintage big top rises as if by magic — its music drifting on the breeze through the Windrush Valley.

The setting feels like it’s been lifted from the pages of an Enid Blyton story, but step inside the tent and you’re transported to another world entirely.

This year’s show dazzles with Cuban acrobats flying through the air, Italian brothers performing spellbinding hand-balancing feats, and a breathtaking Russian aerial act soaring high above the crowd. It’s fast, funny, daring, and utterly enchanting.

And when the lights dim and you emerge back into the golden evening sun, you’ll find yourself wondering: did that really happen, or was it all a dream?
